Our family is part Irish and St. Patrick s Day was always a huge day of celebration for us. Our house was decorated from top to bottom with banners, shamrocks, leprechauns and gold coins. There were shamrock-shaped cookies and green chocolate lollipops in the shape of shamrocks too. <br><br /> Amber remembers being told stories about leprechauns from a very young age, so naturally her favorite part of the family s St. Paddy s Day celebration was getting letters from the wee folks who were hidden outside in the garden bushes. She knows more about leprechauns than the average person & for instance, did you know that if a leprechaun is caught by a mortal, he will promise great wealth if allowed to go free? And he carries two leather pouches: in one there is a magical coin that returns to the purse each time it is paid out; in the other he carries a gold coin which he uses to try and bribe his way out of difficult situations. Who wouldn t love that! <br><br /> It s no wonder that Amber ended up writing the children s story she did, and what s more it s based on her little cousin Laura who lives in Bavaria!
